Rexy, Alicia and Good Vibrations

Once upon a time, there was a dog named Rexy, he was a border collie who had been rescued by his owner Alicia. He was a smart dog, as dogs go, and he had noticed lately that Alicia seemed more agitated and upset, he didn’t know why. “Oh Rexy,” Alicia said, “I can’t wait for the U.S. Election to be over so we can get on with things.” Rexy looked at Alicia with a puzzled expression. “You see, Rexy, things don’t seem to be going so well in America, and here in Canada, we don’t know what to do or how to help them.” Rexy tilted his head to the side as if he wanted to know more. “I think I will ask Sam to come over, he always knows the answer.” Rexy barked twice as if to acknowledge and agree with what she said.

Because of that decision, the next day Sam came over. The election was done, with the candidate everyone was afraid of being elected, chosen as the next President of the United States.

“Why is this happening now, Sam?”

Sam sat down on the couch and beside Alicia, Rexy laying down at her feet. “You know, sometimes things have to be broken down before they can be rebuilt. If the system is outdated, if the rules no longer apply or they are downright wrong, they need to be changed. This election brought to light all the things that need to be changed – racism, women’s rights violations, corruption, and sexual harassment, to name a few. Without this election, most issues would not have been brought forward.”

“Oh, like turning on the light in a dark room to see what is there,” Alicia said. “Exactly,” said Sam, nodding at Alicia. Sam proceeded to explain to Alicia how the world’s wealth was tied up by the wealthy, the poor population was growing, and that there was no middle class left. All the while Rexy was sleeping at Alicia’s feet, very relaxed. “The system, the economy, needs to be broken down, because the poor people in the U.S. have no way of climbing out of that pit. In other countries, there are the means to climb out of the pit of being poor, not in America.” Alicia was frowning, contemplating what Sam said. Rexy opened one eye to see why it had gone so quiet and then closed it again. “So Sam, what can we do, how can we help?”

Because Alicia was so interested, Sam proceeded to explain to Alicia how to begin, where to start. “Did you know,” said Sam, “That your circle of influence, the 7 people closest to you are the ones you influence the most (and they you)? Each of those people influence 7 more people and those people influence 7 more, and those people influence 7 more, and so on. Do you understand so far?” Alicia nodded. “Ok, you have heard of raising your vibrations, keeping positive, right?” “Yes,” Alicia said. Rexy seemed to be listening and was sitting at attention. “Normally we do this by eating properly, meditating daily, exercising, yoga, and things like that. There are other things you can do too. You can raise your vibrations by taking care of your own issues, by making better choices in your life.”

Alicia frowned again and then brightened up. “Like how stuck I feel right now, not knowing where to go and what is next.” “That’s right,” said Sam. “Also, you may be feeling like there are some blocks, some old beliefs or limitations holding you back from living a great life. This raises your vibration, and remember the circle of influence I mentioned earlier?” Alicia nodded. “Raising your vibration will help raise theirs, and then the 7 people in each of their circles, until eventually it will have the ripple effect and this will reach the city, the province, the country and even the world!” At that Rexy let out two sharp barks as if to agree. “Hey,” Sam said, “why don’t we take Rexy for a walk, I have someone I would like you to meet.” Rexy jumped up and went to wait by the door with Alicia and Sam’s laughter echoing behind him.

Sam, Alicia, and Rexy, walked, quietly contemplating their earlier talk, until finally they came to an office; and on the door was painted, “The Mindful Choices – Barbara Kawa.”

“Oh look, coaching and animal communication. Will it be ok to bring Rexy inside?” asked Alicia.

“Yes, it is ok to bring Rexy inside, Barbara loves animals.” They opened the door and went inside. It was a very welcoming space, soft chairs, pretty paintings, and a feeling of home. “Hi Barbara, how are you?” Sam greeted Barbara who was coming out of her office.

“I am doing great,” said Barbara with a warm and friendly smile. “Who’s this?” Barbara asked as she bent down to allow Rexy to sniff her. “This is Rexy and his owner, Alicia. I wanted her to meet you because she has some questions she would like to ask you.” Sam said.

After Rexy finished licking her, Barbara stood up and hugged both Sam and Alicia. “I’m Barbara and I would love to get to know you. Please ask whatever you like.”

“Well,” Alicia said, “I have been feeling stuck lately, like I have no direction, I am not sure of who I am and why I am here. I would like some help.” Barbara proceeded to outline how she could help Alicia make better choices in her life with clarity, mindfulness and focus. Alicia made an appointment. They said goodbye to Barbara and walked home.

“Thank you for taking me to see Barbara,” Alicia said.

Sam said, “You are welcome. Barbara has helped me so much, so I knew she could help you. See? You are a part of my circle of influence and now your vibrations will be raised. This is how it works. It begins with you, right here right now. And who knows how far it will reach?”
